Family Ministry Updates - 10/07/2019

EYC is finally back to our regularly scheduled programming this Sunday! Middle Schoolers meet in the courtyard by the gym at 5 - 6 pm. Dinner for all ages is 6 - 6:30 pm. High schoolers meet for dinner, and programming ends at 7:30 pm. We will be playing games and having small group discussions.

We are having an acolyte commissioning service on Sunday, October 13. All current acolytes and crucifers, please attend to receive a pin during this short extra piece of the service.

We are returning to Ecuador for a mission experience in 2020! Go ahead and mark your calendars for this ten-day mission in the last two weeks of June (likely June 15-25). Rising 9th graders and up are invited on this incredible opportunity for mission, fellowship, and faith formation. Reach out to Maggie at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. if you or your child is interested in this opportunity.

Maggie is still looking for volunteers for Wednesday night programming with children! We have a great time talking about our “spiritual monsters,” and will end with a viewing of Monsters, Inc. on Wednesday, October 30. Please let Maggie know if you are able to attend one of these Wednesday night offerings.

Mark your calendars for our Lock-In on the night of October 12! Episcopal churches from all over Columbia are invited, and we encourage our youth to bring friends to this Halloween-themed overnight. Please consider chaperoning, as well; we need one adult chaperone for every five youth, to follow Safeguarding guidelines.

Trunk or Treat is around the corner! Sunday, October 27 at 4 pm we will gather in the St. John’s parking lot for this tradition. St. Catherine’s Guild will be heading up this event. Tell Maggie if you would like to set up your trunk for the occasion, or if you have any other ideas about that day.

Maggie recently sent out an email to everyone on her list of volunteers for the nursery about signing up for November dates! Please respond to that email with dates you cannot be available so that she can get the schedule out soon. No need to respond if you are available  Right now, there are enough volunteers that, if everyone serves, each volunteer would be in the nursery or children's chapel eight times a year or fewer. If we bulk up that list, it'll be even fewer! People of all ages, moms, dads, grandparents, ANYBODY--please reach out to Maggie if you would be willing to serve the children of St. John's just a few times per year. If you're already a regular on the rotation, THANK YOU! Please encourage your friends and husbands to sign up to volunteer as well. Children's Ministries are a congregation-wide effort!
