Blessings

Blessings

by Lee Sheorn

Deuteronomy 15:10 (NIV) “Give generously to them and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.”

There have been so many blessings in my life. Doug and I have been members of St. John’s for over 30 years. Our children have grown up here. I have seen our wonderful church go through several stages. It is so wonderful to see the young children running down the aisle again like it was when we first joined and to see the young adults getting involved in the many activities of our wonderful, loving neighborhood church. God always has perfect timing. In the last couple of years, I had stopped working and had been asked to serve on the vestry and help with renovating the dining room. Both have been a joy. Most recently our daughter, Olivia was married at our beautiful St. John’s. Several of the women who had been a part of Olivia’s life came forward and helped on the day of her wedding with arranging flowers, decorating the church with beautiful smilax, and directing her wedding. What a gift this was to have these exceptional women be a part of her special day! Another gift.

God has given us all gifts. Search in yourself and come forward with your gifts to bring to our church. You may have a gift of arranging flowers, singing, gardening, teaching, helping with the nursery, cooking, or financial gifts. God has given you gifts to use while we are on earth. Step forward in faith, knowing God is motivated by his love for you. God wants us to take risks in faith. If you make the most of what he has given you, then He will trust you with more.

I ask that God continues to guide my life and help me to do His will.
