Youth, 6th Grade to 12th Grade

Confirmation and Inquirer’s Classes are offered during the months prior to the Bishop’s visit to St. John’s for confirmation. This class is designed for anyone in the 11th grade, 17 years old, or older who would like to know more about Christianity and the Episcopal Church and make a mature public affirmation of their faith and relationship with God.

Youth Sunday School
Sunday School classes for youth are offered each week in room “356”, named because of the focus verse of Proverbs 3:5-6. Students participate in a variety of fun and interesting discussions and activities focused on fellowship, and scripture, and growing in their walk with Christ.

Youth Christian Formation
EYC, our Episcopal Youth Community, is made up of our middle and high school students in grades 6 through 12.  This ministry is a place for teenagers to come together for fellowship, fun, and community building while we explore God’s love for us and learn about living lives like Jesus. We seek to develop our walks with Christ through fellowship, devotion, fun games, sharing meals, and serving the community together.  While our primary meeting is on Sunday nights, EYC also encompasses fun  programs and events, retreats, Monday morning Bojangle’s meet-ups, mission trips, and other happenings designed to build community and grow our faith.  Youth are also encouraged to participate in Diocesan events and retreats such as “SMASH” for High Schoolers, New Beginnings, Happening, and the Diocesan Youth Leadership Committee (DYLC). This year’s theme for Middle schoolers centers around “WWJD”, or “What Would Jesus Do?”

This new monthly all-area student gathering will be hosted at different Columbia churches on the second Sunday of each month at 5 pm and will serve as EYC that night. All Middle and High schoolers and their friends are invited, and the time will include activities and games, group worship, and dinner. Cornerstone began in Augusta several years ago, and we're excited to expand this large group gathering to Columbia this year!
